Who We Are
The Newton Way
It’s the people behind the name that make Newton what it is. That’s why we do our best to make Newton a great place to work. Staff get their birthday off, a full kitchen cupboard in the office and even get tokens for when they need to come in a wee bit late, or leave early.
We listen & have a welcoming culture
Want a letting agent who listens to you rather than tells you how it is? We always help and advise, but ultimately, it’s your property. You are the boss!
Want to come in and have a chat? No problem, you won’t find any bandit screens or snooty receptionists here!
Come in to see us, get a guided tour of our offices. Sit with your property manager at their work station to see what he or she does. You’re always welcome here.
The Newton Letting Story
Newton Letting was originally started by Stephen O’Neill in 2005, as part of Newton Property Management.
Our managing director, Riccardo Giovanacci, joined the company in 2007 as a trainee letting agent under the tutelage of Stephen – who spent the next 3 years showing him the ropes from the bottom up.
In 2010, Riccardo left the business to work for Foxton’s in London then returned to Glasgow in 2011 to begin working for Clyde Property. Over the 6 years, Riccardo worked in both letting and estate agency until he was asked to return to Newton as their Letting Director.
The letting department was purchased in March 2019 and now runs under the name of Newton Letting -proud to continue on the legacy that Stephen had originally built.
Riccardo’s grandfather, William O’Neill, had worked in the industry since the 1950’s, running one of Glasgow’s first estate agents in the city’s West End. As a third generation family member working in the industry, Riccardo’s looks to continue his family’s long established reputation throughout Glasgow.
Your Deposit Protected
Before renting a property, you will provide a security deposit to your landlord or letting agent. This money protects the landlord should you break any terms of the rental agreement. In 2007, the Government introduced tenancy deposit protection (TDP) to make sure this money was safeguarded and that tenants got it back after they moved out. At Newton Letting, your deposit is protected by the Propertymark scheme so you can rest assured your deposit is fully protected.
After you have handed over a security deposit, by law the landlord or letting agent needs to pay it into a TDP scheme within a certain period of time. We also need to provide you with some important documentation called the Prescribed Information.
You will need keep these documents in a safe place as you may need them at the end of the tenancy but we will keep copies for you..
